Gravimetric feeders

Gravimetric feeder

A gravimetric feeder delivers a controlled flow of material by weight. WEIGHTEC SYSTEMS modernizes these feeders to improve dosing accuracy and long-term stability.

A feeder that measures its output

A gravimetric feeder adjusts its speed or gate opening so the actual flow matches the setpoint. The result depends on a clean weighing signal and a control loop fast enough to follow product variations.

  • Continuous weighing of the delivered flow
  • Speed or gate adjustment in real time
  • Stable flow despite product variations
  • Clear indication of the actual flow rate

Modernization of the feeder

WEIGHTEC SYSTEMS upgrades gravimetric feeders with Siemens PLCs and Siemens weighing modules. We keep the reusable mechanics, modernize the control/electronics, and at project end the programs, backups and documents are handed over to the client.

  • Replacement of obsolete flow controllers
  • Tuning of the control loop for the product
  • Setpoint and recipe management
  • Alarm handling for flow deviation

Stability over time

A feeder must keep its accuracy as mechanical parts wear and products change. We calibrate the weighing and leave the operator with simple checks and a documented configuration.

  • Calibration of the weighing chain
  • Verification of mechanical alignment
  • Routine checks for operators
  • Documentation of the configuration

Frequently asked questions

How does a gravimetric feeder differ from a volumetric one?

It measures the delivered weight and adjusts the feed, so accuracy is less affected by product density.

Can you modernize our existing feeder?

Yes, by replacing the control and weighing electronics while reusing sound mechanics.

Do you calibrate the feeder?

Yes, calibration and tuning are part of the intervention.
