Weighing hoppers

Weighing hopper

A weighing hopper measures the material it contains to control batches, dosing or transfers. WEIGHTEC SYSTEMS modernizes hopper weighing so quantities are monitored and controlled reliably.

The hopper as a measuring instrument

A weighing hopper is only as good as its load cells and their mounting. When the hopper is suspended or supported incorrectly, or the electronics drift, the indicated quantity no longer reflects reality.

  • Correct load-cell mounting and alignment
  • Reliable weight signal in production conditions
  • Tare and calibration management
  • Clear indication of the current quantity

Modernizing hopper weighing

WEIGHTEC SYSTEMS uses Siemens PLCs and Siemens weighing modules to rebuild the weighing and control. We keep the reusable mechanics, modernize the control/electronics, and at project end the programs, backups and documents are handed over to the client.

  • Replacement of obsolete weigh electronics
  • Control of filling and discharge thresholds
  • Alarms for weight outside tolerance
  • Recording of batch quantities

Control of material quantities

The hopper often drives a sequence: fill, reach target, discharge. We tune the control so this sequence runs cleanly and the operator always knows the state of the hopper.

  • Fill and discharge sequencing
  • Coarse and fine feed for accuracy
  • Operator screens adapted to the workflow
  • Calibration and routine checks

Frequently asked questions

Can you modernize a weighing hopper without changing the structure?

Yes, the structure is reused when sound; the intervention targets the weighing and control.

Do you calibrate the hopper?

Yes, calibration is included in the modernization.

Can the hopper control filling and discharge?

Yes, the modernized control can sequence fill, target and discharge.
